It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Isabel Louise Ulak on February 18, 2019 at the age of 88. Isabel had just moved to Pinecrest Home for the Aged to be with her husband, Marion.

She is survived by her husband, Marion of 57 years, her son Sam (Evy), nephews Alec and David (Sharon) and niece Mary (Tim). Her two grandchildren, David and Isabel were the apples of her eye and they will miss her dearly. Her sister, Trudy Danko, is her last remaining sibling. There are also numerous relatives and friends that were dear to her.

Isabel was predeceased by her parents, John and Katherine Strecker, her sisters Mary, Minnie and Margaret and her brothers, John and Stan.

Isabel was born July 11, 1930 in Kenora. She became a teacher and thought in Elementary Schools in Kenora until she retired to her and Marion’s camp on Island Lake. Isabel travelled throughout Canada, Florida and France but happily returned to Kenora her favourite place.

Dear Marion, Sam, Evy, David, Isabel, Alec, David and Mary and family,

My heart felt sympathies to all of you during this difficult time. Isabel was my closest friend. There are no adequate words to describe this gentle, kind, considerate, generous and loving woman. My children are almost the same age as both David and Isabel and that gave us lots to talk about. She just loved talking about all of you. So, despite the fact that I have not met all of you, I feel like I know all of you through Isabel. She cherished each and every person in her family and this was abundant every time we talked. If you were a friend, she made it seem like you were the most important person to her. She had a genuine interest in you as a person and we were never at a loss of things to talk about. Isabel had a true sense of what counted in life. She made so many true friends, both old and young, and this allowed her to share her wisdom and inner happiness with so many others. She will be missed tremendously.

We are all truly saddened by your loss,
Marilyn, John, Mary, Adrian and Enoria.

Peace, my heart, let the time for the parting be sweet;
Let it not be a death, but completeness.
Let love melt into memory, and pain into songs.

Dear Sam,
Jamey sent me word of your mother's passing. There's just nothing like losing your mom, is there? Seems a lifetime ago since we saw each other out at your camp. I'll always remember the twinkle in your mom's eyes. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

So sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I remember her from visiting my mother in law years ago (Marguerite Canfield) they were very good friends. Such a wonderful lady. Sending hugs and prayers.

I write this today with deep sadness and also a great sense of gratitude and being able to meet, know and remember how this special lady, Isabel Ulak has touched my life in the most positive way.

Isabel Ulak was the most kind, considerate, giving, compassionate person who always was, in my opinion, a true Christian. She is most definitely, one of a kind and is rare in today's world. Marion, Sam, Evey, David, and Isabella, our hearts go out to you at this most difficult time.
