Peacefully surrounded by family, Jack Charlesworth passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
He is survived by his nephews and nieces Lorne, Sigrid, Jan and Don. His great nephews and nieces: Sean (Louise), Chris, Kassandra and Nathan. As well as his great great nephew and nieces: Brianna, Matthew, Annalicia, Chloe and Charlotte.
He is also survived by his brother Bob Charlesworth and his family (Kelowna, BC.) and his sister Betty Charlesworth (Toronto).
He was predeceased by his 3 sisters Charm, Alice, Grace and his brother Ralph.
A lifelong resident of Minaki, his parents homesteaded on the property called Charlesworth in 1906. Jack was known for his charitable spirit and his love for all who resided in Minaki. He was proud of his community and volunteered his help anyway he could by serving on the many Minaki organizations like the Fire Department and the Minaki Foundation.
Jack was an excellent source of information on anything Minaki, to even sometimes being called the unofficial “Mayor of Minaki”.
He spent most of his working life from 1959 – 1988 working for the Ministry of Natural Resources and was the go to guy even after retirement.
The family would like to thank the Kenora Emergency and ICU staff for all their incredible care.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family interment at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery with a Memorial Service to be held in Minaki on Saturday, August 2, 2008.
