September 25, 1941 - January 14, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jackie Sundquist, peacefully at Pinecrest
Home for the Aged in Kenora with her family by her side, on January 14, 2019 in her 77th year.
Jackie will be profoundly missed by her husband of 14 years, Wayne Sundquist of Kenora,
daughter Brenda Blunden (Brian) of Kenora, daughter Laurie Kozlowski (Andrew) of Kenora,
son Jamie Blunden (Sherry) of Winnipeg as well as grandchildren Kimberley Struve, Matthew
Kozlowski and Alanna Kozlowski. Also left to mourn are Jackie’s step-daughter Debbie
Sundquist of Ear-Falls and step-granddaughters Andrea Boucha, Samantha Boucha and Sabrina
Boucha. She will also be sorely missed by her sisters Diane Leblanc (John), Suzanne Lachapelle
(Raymond), Eveline Burd (Ken), brother Raymond Pigeau as well as many nieces, nephews,
friends and her very special companion Molly.
Jackie spent the first 30 years of her life in Temiscamingue, Quebec relocating to Ear Falls,
Ontario in 1972 and later to Kenora, Ontario in 1984 where she worked at Pinecrest Home for
the Aged until her retirement at the age of 65 years. She was a compassionate and caring person
always ready to lend an ear or a hand to anyone in need and willing to help those less fortunate
or falling on hard times. She could not stand by to see anybody suffer. Jackie loved to dance
and would rarely be seen sitting on the sidelines if there was dance floor nearby. She was an
extremely talented knitter and kept busy making sure that her children, and later her
grandchildren, had plenty of socks, mittens, hats and sweaters to keep them warm through the
winters. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs, to the point where she
could not enter into a pet shop as seeing animals in cages drove her to tears. Anyone who ever
knew Jackie loved her.
Jackie was predeceased by her husband James Blunden, father Arthur Pigeau, mother Angeline
Pigeau, sister Jeanette Condie, brother Richard Pigeau, sister-in-law Joan Pigeau, mother-in-law
Eleanor Kelly, father-in-law Clayton Kelly, sister-in-law Betty Livingstone, brother-in-law Doug
Livingstone, sister-in-law Barbara Way and brother-in-law Jasper Way.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wehner for his exceptional medical knowledge, dedicated
help, support and assistance over the past several years. We truly believe that your involvement
in Jackie’s care allowed us a few additional years with her. Thank you as well to the staff at
Pinecrest Home for the Aged for their compassion and care over the past year. You are all truly
very special people.
As per Jackie’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later
date.
