Jon, I’ve known you for over 30 years, and you were always like a big brother to me. We shared so many unforgettable memories together, moments that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life.

I’ll never forget the time we wandered deep through the bush and found that perfect fishing hole. While you were reeling in a pike, a stray line somehow tangled into your catch, and up came a big trout with it. You even took the time to teach me how to fillet those big fish, a skill I still carry with me today.

We shared bullets out at the pits shooting your rifle with your dad, went on several snow machining adventures, and more recently, cheered at the races when your favourite racer took the win. Those moments were simple, but they meant everything. From countless dinners with mom and dad Wilson and your epic barbecue steak skills you and your mom always impressed me with your hospitality and care. 

You were never one to hold back. Your strong opinions and colourful language made sure of that. You loved your guns, and you always made me feel safe, promising to protect me no matter what, whether it was from harm or even the end of the world itself.

Jon, I’m so glad I got the opportunity to be by your side in your final weeks. Your daily phone calls toward the end were memorable. You were strong and full of optimism right down to your final days. You were one of a kind. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. Hold the Fort Big Jon!! Forever your friend Katsteer.
