June 20, 1936 – June 15, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joseph Delorme on June 15, 2026, at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora, Ontario. He passed away with his two sons and close friends by his side.
Joseph was born in 1936 in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. Although his early years were marked by hardship and few material comforts, they instilled in him a strong work ethic that remained a defining characteristic throughout his life.
As a young man, Joseph made his way to the Kenora area, where he began working in the forestry industry. He later started a second career at the Kenora paper mill, where he dedicated more than 30 years of loyal service before retiring.
Joseph had a deep appreciation for the beauty of Northwestern Ontario and the outdoors. He spent countless hours hunting and fishing throughout the region and never passed up an opportunity to work in nature. In his later years, his love of the outdoors continued as he enjoyed many blueberry-picking seasons with his nieces, creating cherished memories together.
Lake of the Woods always held a special place in Joseph's heart. After years of hard work and determination, he fulfilled a lifelong dream by building a home on the lake with his beloved wife, Martha, and their two sons.
Joseph was known for his unwavering dedication to his work, his family, his friends, and his community. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, never hesitating to give his time or skills to anyone in need. His quiet generosity, dependable nature, and kind heart earned him the respect and friendship of many.
A devoted member of Lakeside Baptist Church, Joseph faithfully served his church family whenever he could. Whether helping with maintenance projects or volunteering his time in other ways, he was always willing to contribute and support the congregation he loved.
Joseph was predeceased by his beloved wife, Martha Delorme (née Wagenaar); his parents, Albert Delorme and Alice Beaudry; his brothers, Frank Delorme, Albert Delorme, and Alexander Delorme; and his sisters, Alice Poliues, Melda Morrison, Doreen Samson, Florence Gladue, and Margaret Garnham.
He leaves to mourn his passing his loving sons, David Delorme (Laura Kember), proud father of Rheannon and Milayna (their mother Justyna Dasilva), and Mark Delorme and his wife Hilary Jackson. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Frieda Morrison, his many nieces and nephews, his close friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness and generosity.
Joseph's life was a reflection of the words found in Scripture:
"Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do."
“Ephesians 6:7–8”
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joseph's life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Joseph's memory to Lakeside Baptist Church, 101 Transmitter Road, PO Box 249, Kenora, Ontario P9N 3X3.
Joseph will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his steadfast faith, his strong work ethic, his love of family and nature, and the quiet generosity with which he lived his life.
