It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Kathleen Crow, after a long and bountiful life. Our mother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend, passed peacefully at the age of 94; surrounded by her loved ones.
Kathleen passed on at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. She was pre-deceased by her husband Albert Crow; Hoptaagiizhikweb, her parents, brothers Harry White, Alphonse White, John White, Frank White, sister Maggie Bird, son Bobby Namaypoke, daughter Nora May, granddaughter Jewel, great granddaughter Kyla, great grandson Beau, great grandson Prouden, great grandson Castor and step-children, George Crow, Joe Crow, David Crow, Ada Morrison, Mary Elders, Josephine Prince, and Alberta Elders.
Left to mourn are her children, Johnny Namaypoke (Glenda), Lulubelle Namaypoke, Roy Crow, Allan Crow (Phyllis), Theresa Crow, Betty-Ann Crow, and step-son, Pete Crow (Isabel), and her sister, Mary Copenace.
Special thank you to Dr. Pederson, and the nursing staff at the L.W.D.H., Philina Sky, Helen Wesley and Leslie Copenace, thank you for your great support which gave us strength. Chi Miigwetch to the Nee Chee Centre for their generosity in providing to our needs. Special Chi Miigwech to Theresa Crow who constantly stayed by Kokums side and to Debbie Meekis who cared for Kokum and family during this difficult time.
Kathleen and her husband raised and cared for her grandchildren, Robert (Lorna), Jackie, Mona (Minke), and Donna (Dennis). Our mamanon loved all her children and her many, many grandchildren. She had a great sense of humour, she enjoyed making others laugh. She loved family gatherings and poker nights at her home – especially Christmas time. Kokum was a highly respected member of Naotkamegwanning and often offered her advice and wisdom. She was recently honored by Naotkamegwanning with the Seven Grandfathers Teaching Award of “Honesty”.
Kokum left us with countless cherished memories and experienced wisdom which will be greatly treasured.
Wake will be held on December 24, 2015 at the Netaawgonebiik Health Centre in Naotkamegwanning and, Traditional services will be held the following day, Friday, December 25, 2015 at 10:00 am with the Elder Peter White, officiating.
