Kimberly Assin was a resident of Northwest Angle # 33 First Nation passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital with her family by her side.
She was predeceased by her mother Gloria Assin, auntie Rose Assin, uncles Frankie and Gary Assin, nephew Cole Assin, grandparents Patrick and Grace Assin, great uncle Joe Stone (Julia Keewatin), great grandmother Annie Stone (Raymond Stone), Ronald, Bessie and Jessie Assin, grandparents Gabriel Kokokopenace and Elizabeth (Keewatin) Kokokopenace, as well as many other family members too numerous to mention.
She is survived by her spouse Dwayne Paul, her children Darius Assin, Phoenix Assin, Romeo Loon, Naomi Loon, Sheldon Paul, Gloria Paul and Jaxson Paul, father Clayton Kokokopenace, her mother and father in law Wayne and Margaret Paul, her former in laws Arron and Ginny Loon, sister in law Rosalee (Kyle Copenace) Mandamin, brother in law Jamie Mandamin, her sisters Kayla (Owen Chang) Assin and Kerry Assin, and her brother Clayton Assin, aunties Marcella, Grace Ann (Andy Miller), Sheila (Kokokopenace) (Allan) Quoquat, Beatrice (Wayne Whitefish) Kokokopenace, uncles Ted (Rayann) Whitehead, Frazer (Ruth) and Lawrence Baxton Kokokopenace, Kokums Brenda Kokokopenace, Susan Fobister, Eveleen Petiquan, Rita Kokokopenace Sr., Clara Kokokopenace, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives too numerous to mention.
She was a very caring person, compassionate, and always made sure everyone was looked after. Kim loved all of her children and family. She enjoyed family gatherings, loved cooking Bannock for everyone, she also enjoyed going to Bingo, poker and really flourished while socializing with family, friends and her communities.
A wake service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 2:00pm at Trappers Building, Grassy Narrows, Ontario. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 10:00am at Grassy Narrows First Nation, Ontario with Elder Roy Napish officiating with interment to follow in Grassy Narrows First Nation.
