Kristol Kabestra Zhawaskwakanabeek – Blue Sky Woman

It is with great sadness that the family of “Kristol Kabestra” announce her sudden passing on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Fort Frances La Verendrye Hospital.

Kristol was born November 8, 1974 in Kenora, Ontario.

She was predeceased by her father George Assin, siblings Lisa, Barry, Joseph, Charles Ray Victor, Anna Marie and Barbara and grandparents Frances K. and Erik K.

She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories her partner Steve Jack, children Katja, Shaquelle, Brandon(Regina), Shaneal, RJay, Cassandra, Anthony, grandchildren, Kaylor, Shayden, AaLiyah, Kamron, Skye, Jayce and Carter, her mother Georgina K., uncles Fred and Isaac and Auntie Mary, brothers Paul, Barry, Chris K (Colleen S.), Howard, David (Julie), Erik (Ester), sister Hazel (Matt). Kristol graduated from WFB, loved to hang out with family and friends, she loved to travel, go shopping, yard sales, going to pow-wows, listening to music, her favourite sport she enjoyed the most was curling. She also loved to work in the office as a secretary, enjoyed working at the park, home support, commercial fish and regular fishing with family, being on the lake she really enjoyed watching the sunsets.

On November 8, 2008 she met Steve where she fell in love and has resided in Big Grassy First Nations. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Fort Frances, Whitefish Bay Band and the Whitefish Bay Health Centre, Big Grassy Band, family and friends for their support.

Wake Service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Whitefish Bay Health Centre.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Whitefish Bay Health Centre, with interment to follow at Whitefish Bay Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Fred Jack Jr., Chris Kabestra, Skyler Copenace, Paul Oshie, Joshua Copenace and Anthony Jack, honourary pallbearers will be Brandon Cowley, Roland White, Jamie Cowley, David Kabestra, Howard Kabestra, Erik Kabestra Jr.
