Langford Ogemah

Netaabiibines - Shaage Doodem

June 6, 1949 - August 12, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, brother, Langford Ogemah.

Langford was born to Jessie and Fred Ogemah and was the 2nd born. He was raised throughout Treaty 3, between Thunder Bay and Kenora. He was a residential school survivor who after gained employment as a heavy duty mechanic. He was fluent in the “Old” Ojibway and was gifted with many gifts. He was 5th level Mide and had started his spiritual journey back in the 80’s. He travelled near and far to help anyone who asked/needed help, he would just go. He travelled the world gaining knowledge and shared numerous teachings. He helped so many send their loved ones on their journey to the spirit world and continued to help until he couldn’t do it anymore. He also had a wicked sense of humour and liked to laugh, especially with family. (Insert memories and smiles here) We are so very proud of all of the help he has given, lessons taught, advice given, all of which will be cherished.

Langford will be welcomed by his parents, Jessie and Fred, his son Langford Mason, adopted daughter Shirley, and numerous other family members who are also happy to see him.

He’s travelled ahead of his brother, Joe, adopted sisters, Kathleen Greene, & Sarah Mandamin, his aunt Helen, his children, Charles, Stephanie (Gena), Christian, Lana, Wawatae (Emily), Sarah, their mother, Martina, his adopted daughters, Allyson & Dona (David), his granddaughters who lived with him, Shawntae, Thia (Veron), & Aurora. Langford will also be missed immensely by his other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and numerous cousins.

A special thank you to Warren and Aaron, as well as Jason Fobister, all of you helped dad during his last ceremony and up to his last day on this side. To you, Howard Copenace, who was asked personally by Langford to help send him off to the spirit world, we thank you for taking the time to do this very special ceremony for us.

The whole family sends their deepest thanks to his Nurse Practitioner, Sandra Christie, Dr. Weibe, dads nurse, Mike Limerick, the numerous nurses at LWDH & Wauzhushk Onigum Nation medical. We want to thank all who have helped send him to the spirit world, chi-Miigwetch.

A Wake Service will be held at Rat Portage Youth & Elder Centre in Rat Portage, Ontario, on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 12:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at Rat Portage Youth & Elder Centre in Rat Portage, Ontario, on August 17, 2026 at 10:00 am with Elder Howard Copenace leading the ceremony with burial to follow.
