

surrounded by her family, on October 20, 2008. This fulfilled her
final wish.
She leaves to cherish and honour her memory her son Michael (Cathy),
her daughter Madeleine (Garry) and four grandchildren: Douglas,
Stephen, Allison and John. She is also survived by her sister Alice
Herbacz, brother-in-law Frank Sweeney, and sister-in-law Kathleen
(Robbie) Sweeney.
She was predeceased by Don, her husband of 66 years (December 2007),
her parents Henri and Mary Corneillie, and her brother George
Corneillie.
Laura was born in Winnipeg on 14 July 1914 and lived in Fort Frances
before moving to Kenora. With her family, she was involved in
operating the Lake of the Woods. Later she worked at the Notre Dame
Credit Union.
Laura’s life centered around her family, faith, kitchen, garden and
camps where she and Don enjoyed the beauty of nature. Her deep faith
sustained her throughout her life. Her Christian values are
her legacy to her children and grandchildren to whom she was devoted.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Notre Dame Church on Saturday,
October 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow at the
Ukrainian Literary Society Hall, 509 4th Street North. Interment will
follow at a later date.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Ramchandar for his care
and concern, the Lake of the Woods Hospital staff and the
compassionate support of Comcare nurses and homecare workers.
