

Leonard John Joseph Sr. passed away to be with the Creator and the spirits of his loved ones on October 14, 2025. Among those he will be joining are his parents Eli Oshie and Edna Joseph Whitefeather (Jim), his grandparents Peter and Victoria, his beloved wife Doris “Chiklo", his children Leonard Jr, Giselle, Benjamin, his brothers, AJ and Lonny, his nephews, Lonnie and Cory, his nieces, Margaret and Janelle.
He leaves in sadness, his sons, Kelsey and Todd, his cherished grandchild Veda, siblings Rory (Alvena), Neil (Janet), Gayle, Hazel (Richard Hawkins) Valentina, Tracy (Spencer), Sharon (Zach), grandchildren Kyra, Kendra, Kayla, Korelle, Kaleigh, Keri-Lynn, Giselle, Khloe, Angel, Mya, Geronimo, Sinikah, Tayla, Klayton and numerous extended family members, including many with whom they shared their home with.
Leonard had a gift for tinkering. He had a knack for numbers and worked in accounting for many years. He had a passion for working on cars with his brother, Rory, and his nephew PJ. He loved his Toronto Blue Jays baseball, NASCAR racing, and his all-time favorite team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. Leonard enjoyed observing people and was wonderful to talk to when he got to know you. He had a great sense of humour and loved to laugh at everything around him. He had a caring soul that opened up his heart and home to many people with his wife, Chiklo. Many people will affectionately remember him as “Pops". When once asked why he was so quiet he replied, “It's easier to listen to people when you're quiet.” He had a way of saying things that fit his audience. He will be missed by many.
Wake service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 beginning at 2:00pm at the Peshonigeb Cultural Centre. Funeral Ceremony will be led by Elder Howard Copenace on Saturday, October 18, 2025 beginning at 10:00am with burial to follow in Reed Narrows.
