

Louis Napolean Tetreault
Louis Napoleon Tetreault, beloved husband of Jessie Nellie Tetreault passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Pinecrest Home for the Aged Kenora, ON, with is family by his side.
Louis, nee “Couzin Lou” was born July 10, 1929 at the Tetreault family farm on Hwy 601, Rainy River, ON.
In 1947, at the age of 18 yrs, Couzin Lou began his lifelong career with the CNR (Canadian National Railway), as a brakeman. In 1957, Couzin Lou was promoted to Locomotive Engineer and he began “driving the train”. Lou was extremely proud to be a member of the brotherhood of locomotive engineers and he took pride in his work.
Couzin Lou had a forty year career with the CNR and in July 1987, at the age of 57 yrs, he accepted the “Golden Hand Shake” and he retired from driving the train.
Couzin Lou was also partners in business with his 2 brother in laws Frank and Stan Wolanicki. Hard Luck Construction, moving houses, building foundations and shingling roofs. Working hard was just what Couzin Lou did.
Couzin Lou was also an avid fisherman. Lou could be found every Sunday, either in a boat or in a fish hut with his family catching supper. Every October Lou would go moose hunting with his sons Steven and Darwin, son in laws, and close friends. Couzin Lou enjoyed the outdoors and enjoyed sharing his stories even more.
Many hours of storytelling and friendship was shared at the Tetreault Kitchen table over a bottle of Rum. Lou loved having his family and friends close.
In 1951 met the beautiful Jessie Nellie Wolanicki at the beanery in Rainy River and he “fell in love”. On November 12, 1952, at the Knox United Church in Rainy River, ON Louis and Jessie were married.
Together they had six (6) children; Nellie Halverson (Bill Godin), Marina Meeks (Judson Meeks, deceased), Doris Barton (Clint Barton), Marie Morden (Alan Morden), Steven Tetreault and Darwin Tetreault. 12 grandchildren; Brian Halverson (Julie Reed), Jared Meeks (Amanda Meeks), Jonathan Meeks (Jessica Meeks), Carling Comte (Kevin Comte), Sarah Barton, Colin Barton, Devon Morden, Claire Morden, Daulton Tetreault, Chloe Tetreault, Trista Tetreault and Hayden Tetreault. 6 great grandchildren Brady Meeks, Isabelle Meeks, Aubrey Meeks, Jack Meeks, Charlotte Comte and Quinn Comte.
Lou and Jess celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary before Jessie passed away November 21, 2016. Lou and Jessie lived in Rainy River their entire lives until 2012 when Louis moved to Pinecrest Home for the Aged Kenora, ON, Jessie moved to Kenora in 2013.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre with Pastor Cathy Giroux officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
