On this day, 8 October 2023, our mom and nana, Lynda Joan Geary, our best friend, our most avid listener, our unconditional love, left her six children and three grandchildren, Sharon (Ronald Ranson), Grandson Dyl, Tommy, Chris, Wylie (Will) (Crystal Romaniuk), Tyler (Jennifer), Grandson Gibson, and Mandy (Rene Chiasson), Grand daughter Megane Chiasson, to join her husband, Ed Geary in heaven.
Lynda was born and raised in Kenora and had no intention of leaving. Kenora was her home. Lynda met Ed Geary, and they married May 20, 1967. Lynda wanted nothing more but to create a loving home and to be a devoted wife and our mom. Lynda loved her husband Ed and was heart broken when he passed Feb 2022. Lynda won the Best Mom Ever award, in all her children’s hearts. If we needed to talk, mom listened, if we needed advice, mom gave and if we needed, well anything, mom did her best to help. Through the years mom was known to lend an ear to anyone needing a friend and your secrets were always safe with her.
Lynda was famous for her cooking and invited many into her home through the years to enjoy the many meals. There was always a pot of coffee on the stove and a warm welcome when you knocked on the door. Christmas baking started in October and lasted until December. The smell of freshly baked goods made the Geary house home. Then the planning of Christmas dinner started, and it was the event of the year, there was always enough for everyone no matter who ended up at the Geary table.
Lynda loved when her grandchildren came to visit. Whatever they were interested in she was interested in. Nana loved quality time with Dylan, Gibson and Megane. She made sure she always had treats in the cupboard and spoiled them every chance she got.
Lynda’s heart was won by Grandma Bea’s Shih tzu, and Chelsea had eight spoiled years with mom. She made the perfect puppy mom and later gave a home to puppy, Tessa Anne. But Tessa Anne had a brother and after much discussion it was decided no one could be left behind and Chris went back to get Ralph. Lynda provided Ralph and Tessa’s forever home and they certainly ruled the roost in their time.
Lynda Geary is predeceased by her husband of 54 years, William Edward Geary.
Lynda is survived by her siblings Kathy Duguay (Terry), Elaine St Germain (Aime), Loretta Williams (Butch), Jeanette Haney, and brother Doug Dufresne (Eva). Lynda is predeceased by her Father Felix Dufresne and Mother Beatrice Dufresne and by her sister Carol Dufresne, and brother Wayne Dufresne and brother-in-law Wilfred Haney.
Lynda Geary is predeceased by father-in-law and mother-in-law Thomas and Susan Geary and brothers -in-law and sisters-in-law (spouses) Richard Geary (Hilda), Hugh Geary (Helen), Mick Geary (Doreen), May Swartman, Susan Wilson (Harold), Elsie Ball (Donald), Nellie Derouard (Lawrence), Jean Geary and Pansy Geary.
Linda’s life was also filled by numerous nieces and nephews.
Lynda leaves to her daughters and sons’ loyalty, openness, acceptance, devotion, determination, authority and love. Mom you will be missed by all, but mostly by your children.
