

Margaret Violet Medland
With members of her family by her side during her short illness, Margaret Violet Medland (nee Arnould) passed away on December 29, 2011 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Centre at the age of 75 years.
Margaret will be forever remembered by children Kevin (Maxine), Richard (Adrienne), Leslie (Marcel) and Derek (Kerry), siblings Betty-Anne, and Marlene, brothers-in-law John and Wayne. Grandchildren Nicole(Regan), Adam, Christine (Jesse), Chelsea, Esme, Danielle and William, and great grandchildren Evan, Aidan, Dexter, Kylie and Danica also hold her warmly within their hearts. Margaret was pre-deceased by her parents Oliver and Florence, husband of 35 years Jack, sister Evelyn, as well as brother-in-law Duane and sister-in-law Marilyn.
Born on March 27,1936 the second eldest of the four beautiful ‘Arnould’ sisters, Margaret was born and grew up in Rainy River Ontario. After completing high school, she lived and studied Nursing in Winnipeg. While working in Fort Frances, ‘Marg’ met and married Jack Medland in a ceremony in Rainy River in 1956. They lived in Atikokan before permanently settling in Kenora with their 4 children.
During her early and middle life, Margaret was a Mother, nurse, and homemaker. Her hobbies included camping, fishing, puzzles and games. She shared a love and fostered a passion for Lake of the Woods with both family and friends. She was an active member of Eastern Star into her 60s, reaching the rank of Chaplain of the Order. In her later and elder years after being widowed, Margaret led a quiet life with her pets while occasionally enjoying travelling with her sisters and other members of her family.
A Memorial Service will be held for Margaret on Wednesday January 4th, 2012 @ 1:00pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre in Kenora.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Scaife and the Emergency Room Staff at Lake of the Woods District Hospital, the ICU Staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Centre and the paramedics of Ornge Flight Services.
Donations, in lieu of flowers can be directed to the Alzheimer’s Society, Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation or an alternate Charity of choice.
