It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Marion Margarete Elaine (Simpson) Fish, who entered her eternal rest on November 10, 2025, in Kenora, Ontario. Marion was born on October 6, 1924, in Star City, Saskatchewan, and lived a life defined by warmth, kindness, and compassion.
Marion was cherished by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be fondly remembered for her unwavering strength, radiant laughter, and the many precious memories she gifted to those around her.
Survived by five generations of loved ones, Marion leaves behind a legacy that spans over a century. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Isy (Gavin), Verla and her brother Barry (Linda), as well as her devoted daughters Deana (Raymond) and Peggy (Dave). The innumerable grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great great-grandchildren each held a special place in Grandma Fish’s heart, cherished for their unique qualities and the joy they brought to her life.
Marion was blessed to witness the turning of 101 years on the calendar, a remarkable span that carried her through generations of family and countless memories. Despite living far from many relatives, she remained devoted to staying in touch with her siblings, nieces, nephews, her grandchildren and their children and their children’s children. Family reunions were treasured occasions, full of laughter and the togetherness Marion held dear.
Throughout her long life, our Dear Maid Marion experienced many losses. She was predeceased by her parents, Daisy and Thomas Simpson; her brothers Gerald, (Bill) William (Shirley), and Jim (Tena); her sisters June (Bill) and Gail; her beloved husband Grant; her sons Garry and Brian; daughters Marie (Ed) and Lyne; as well as several in-laws, great-grandchildren, and many cherished friends along the way. Yet, even as she grieved, Marion’s heart remained open, and her love for those around her never waned.
Whether connected by blood, marriage, or friendship, Marion held every relationship in the highest regard, valuing the bonds she formed with all who became part of her circle.
Marion lived through more modern changes in life than we can even imagine. Growing up on a farm in rural Saskatchewan, she witnessed first-hand how conveniences like electricity and indoor plumbing were rare luxuries, and she understood how hard-earned comforts could be. Her resilience and adaptability carried her through a century marked by extraordinary transformation, from horse-drawn wagons to the digital age, and she embraced each change with grace and curiosity. Marion’s life is a testament to the strength, resourcefulness, and optimism that defined her generation—values she passed on to her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A service to celebrate Marion’s life will be held on December 12, 2025 at 2:00pm Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre, where friends and loved ones are invited to gather and share their memories. In addition, a Celebration of Life and Interment is being planned for July 2026.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you plant a tree in her name or donate to charity of your choice, in honor of Marion’s enduring spirit and commitment to helping others.
Marion will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
