With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Mark Allen Caron. Born on February 11, 1965, in Kenora, Ontario, Mark lived his entire life in Kenora, residing in the Norman neighbourhood for the majority of his 60 years.
He is predeceased by his grandparents Leopold (Paul) Caron and Therese Caron (Lalliberte), Walter Boucha and Molly Boucha (Cutler).
He is survived by his parents Paulette (Boucha) and Leonard Caron, two sons Justin (Taylor) and Phillip (Katlyn) Caron, sisters Marcia (Wade Gagnon), Cherie (Mike Hawes) and brother Lanny Caron, Grandchildren (Lilly, Dawsyn, Kingston, Sutter, Khali, and Lenny), mother of his children Candace Poschner (Todd) and Sherry Zdep (companion for many years) and also many nephews and nieces.
Mark had a tough exterior but truly had the kindest of hearts to those close to him. While growing up, Mark spent plenty of time on Lake of the Woods camping and fishing with his family. He also loved being at the family camp at Hawk Lake. He had a love for hockey (and the Boston Bruins) starting from a young age, playing for the Norman hockey clubs on the outdoor rinks.
After attending school at Beaver Brae, Mark followed in his father’s footsteps and began working at the paper mill where he would work until the mill ceased operations. Following the mill shutdown, Mark took his experience and exceptional driving skills to find work as a truck driver and later a forklift operator at the Keewatin Sawmill.
Mark married Candace Poschner on August 24, 1991, and the two started their own family with sons Justin and Phillip. While his boys were growing up they spent countless hours making many memories at the Hawk Lake camp. Like their Dad, the boys found a love for playing hockey and Mark also dedicated many hours as a hockey coach to his son's teams.
As his boys grew up and each started families of their own, Mark became known as Papa Mark to six grandchildren who he loved and cherished very dearly. He would visit regularly out west and always enjoyed his visits with the kids spending time at beaches and camping.
Always a hardworking man, Mark would help anyone who ever asked for a lending hand, he will be missed by many and will be forever in our hearts. A service will be held at St Louis Church on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 11:00 with a luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kenora Triple Play foundation.
