It’s with great sadness we announce the passing of our Mother, Sister, Aunt Wife and Friend of Marlene Swain with family by her side at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre at a very young age of 41.
She was predeceased by her parents Ina Swain and Hector Land Sr., grandparents Catherine Swain, Maggie and Robert Land Sr., great grandparents John Swain (Green Arrow)., brothers Ernie Swain and Hector Land Jr., aunts and uncles Robert Land, Clarence, Phillip, Phyllis, Colleen Swain, Nellie Beaver and Bobby Strong.
She is survived by children, Rinelle Paul, Phyllis and Meagan Taylor. Siblings Caroline (Sherman) Swain, Anita Necanapenace, Chris and Merrill Land and husband Clarence Taylor. Her grandparents Isaac Kabestra and Jim Swain, aunts and uncles Fred and Jerry Land, Clifford, Douglas and Dallas Swain, Chris Swain, MaryAnn, Maria and Lillian Swain and step-father Andy Jasmer.
She is also survived by nieces and nephews Cedar and Miigwun Swain/Brant, Caelyn, Caedance, Calista, Charity, Carson, Caridee, Carlee Swain/Petiquan, Migisi Peetawayway, Erin Sandy, Dawson and Julian Land. Cousins Bonnie, Chrissy, Jessica, Terry, Lucy, Rita, Stephanie, Jeff, Ryan, J.C. Kokopenace, Kenny, Freddie, Randall, Kevin, Eli, Ian, Violet, Clifford Jr., Adrianne, Crystal, Amanda, Jolene, Vanessa, Deanna, Misty, Cynthia, Charlton, Russell, Chelsea, Callahan, Valdimier, Henry and Shawntell.
Marlene was a resident of Grassy Narrows. She went to Teulon School in Manitoba and that’s where she met her husband, father of 4 wonderful children and met many friends. Marlene is well known for her great sense of humour, and always had a cheerful spirit. She always had a smile on her face, was always joking around and laughing. Marlene worked at the Grassy Narrows Day Care before she became a foster parent. She really enjoyed being around kids, she liked going on daily walks and being around her friends, she also enjoyed listening to music.
The family would like to give their thanks to the staff at Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre for caring for Marlene.
Wake service will start February 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Minnow Say Win building. Traditional Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Minnow Say Win Building officiated by Ron Mandamin.
