Mike Mitchell McDonald

July 19, 1997 – July 22, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Mitchell McDonald, who passed away on July 22, 2026, at the age of 29.

Born in Kenora, Ontario, Mike was a kind, loving, and thoughtful man whose gentle spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He had a deep passion for fishing and found peace and happiness on the water. He was also an exceptionally talented welder who took great pride in his craft. His dedication, skill, and strong work ethic earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.

Mike will be remembered for his caring heart, quiet strength, generous spirit, and the love he shared with his family and friends. Though his life was far too short, the memories he created and the lives he touched will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.

Mike is lovingly remembered by his parents, Debbie Scott and Frank McDonald; his sister, Melina Indian-Mandamin (Cody Indian-Mandamin); his beloved Kookum, Irene Scott, Celine Scott, Rose, Shoomis Jim Fisher and Martin; his aunts and uncles, Jackie Cameron (Glenn Cameron), Veronica Scott, Neil Scott, Leon Scott, Melanie Scott (Adrian), Bertha Scott (Joseph), Eada McDonald, Madeline McDonald, and Guy McDonald.

He is also lovingly remembered by his cousins, Gerilyn Fisher, Starleen Fisher (Jenny Essex), Glenn Chabit Fisher (Carrie Hunter), Maverick Hunter, Spencer Hunter, Damian Hunter, Joelyn Scott, Anna Scott, Jessie Scott, Mario Sinclair (April Sinclair), Rene Land, Giselle Land, Hannah Land, Geneva Land, Gordon McDonald, and Gavin McDonald, India Boyd, Keenan Boyd, Brielle Boyd, Trenton Boyd, Alana Scott, Avery Scott, Valentina Scott, Fayla Scott, Freedence Scott, Avery Mentuck and Tristan Scott .

Mike will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews, Alina Mandamin, Isaak Mandamin, Genesis Fisher-Kelly, Skyleth Fisher, Alec Fisher, Kiana Scott, Maliyah Scott, Fallon Hunter, and Cedric Hunter.

Pallbearers will be Jordon Vdomski, Riley Beacham, Jon Beacham, Hunter Johnson, Spencer Hunter, and Chabit Fisher.

Mike’s love for the outdoors, his passion for welding, and his unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Wake service will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 beginning at 10:00am at the WCWA Building in Whitedog First Nation. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:30am in Swan Lake with burial to follow.
