Murphy had great enjoyment in fishing and hunting, and throughout the summer months he was often to be found within the Pow Wow circle. Being with the Hanisha Singers brought him great joy and the many people he came across.
Murphy really enjoyed fishing, whether it was commercial or competitive tournaments. He would be found on the water, be it in summer, fall, or during the ice-fishing season. In his younger days, he’d be seen with the Whitefish Bay Rangers hockey club and had a calibrated position, a sport he quite enjoyed.
Murphy worked in numerous jobs as a Guide for Red Indian, Caviar Camp, Black Bear Camp. He worked as a commercial fisherman for the Band’s fishing program in Dryden & Ear Falls before settling in his job as Assistant O&M for Naotkamegwanning FN, which he had retired from in October 2025. Murphy was a very private person, but as his family, we are immensely proud of his accomplishments, he was a strong and hardworking man with a sense of humor.
The Family would like to acknowledge the following for their love and support throughout this difficult journey that Murphy went through.
