It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy McDonald on 7th of August, 2026 peacefully in her home in bed with her husband of 57 years by her side.
Nancy was born on May 17, 1947 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Kenora, Ontario to Edwin Carl and Isabelle Olson. Nancy completed her public and high school in Kenora where she was always athletically inclined. Her first job was as a receptionist in the Kenora Hospital and she later worked as a telephone operator for the Town of Kenora where she developed an amazing memory for telephone numbers.
Nancy married Peter McDonald on July 5, 1969 and they had two children, Jason (wife Bobbi) and Jacqueline. During the course of their marriage Nancy and Peter lived in eight different homes in Kenora, Ingleside (near Cornwall) Ontario and Ice Lake, Manitoulin Island. They returned to Kenora to stay in 2017.
Nancy always loved the outdoors, was an avid fisher woman and spent many happy years in the family cottage on Moore Bay, Lake of the Woods. She will be remembered lovingly by her friends and family for her ready sense of humour, kind heart and fondness for dogs, birds and all things nature.
Nancy was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother-in-law Adam McDonald. She's survived by her husband Peter, her son Jason and daughter-in-law Bobbi McDonald, daughter Jackie Manola and grand-daughter Angelista and her sister Janice (Art) Wagner.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of the healthcare providers whose assistance, hard work and kindness were very much appreciated.
Nancy's wishes were to be cremated and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
