Norma "Nonnie" Ruth (Meisner) Dexter

Norma Ruth Dexter has gone to be with the Lord and joins her husband Bill, in God's presence. Norma was 91 and died peacefully at Birchwood Terrace in Kenora, Ontario on January 29, 2018. She was much loved by her children, Susan (Frank), Chris (Charlene), Lynn (David), Pam (late husband Keith) and Robin (Kristen) and cherished by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Her childhood and early adult years were lived in Nova Scotia before moving to Kenora in 1959. She is survived by one sister Florence Smith, in Nova Scotia.

Mom was a woman of strong faith who put the best of herself into raising her children. Her deep devotion to family grew to include each new spouse, grandchild and great grandchild who was added to the fold. She was a prolific letter-writer, devoting much time and effort to maintaining relationships with friends and family scattered across the country. Mom was smart, fun-loving, generous, and extremely capable. Among her many talents and hobbies were reading, sewing, knitting, playing the piano, bridge, dancing, cross-country skiing, and baking. She was renowned for her scrumptious molasses and chocolate chip cookies. Mom was a willing helpmate when it came to providing meat for the family, field dressing the partridge and shooting the odd one too, and helped with the butchering of the deer. She was a marvelous cook, often making room at the table for any number of guests who appeared unexpectedly at meal times. She was always open to learning new skills, taking up Spanish lessons in her later years and going to night school to learn French. Her greatest joy was found in activities she shared with her husband and best friend - hunting, fishing, travelling and roaming the States and Mexico in their little camper after retirement.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 am at Lakeside Baptist Church with Pastor David Boyle officiating.
