October 19, 1948 – September 14, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Philip Townsend on September 14, 2026, at the age of 77.
Born in Bancroft, Ontario, on October 19, 1948, Philip was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose presence brought strength and comfort to those who knew him.
Philip was predeceased by his first wife, Carol Townsend, and is survived by his wife, Juliette Townsend. He leaves behind his daughter, Wanda Huber (Ron); his son, Gary Townsend; his stepchildren, Zamele and Julieanne (Kevin); his grandchildren, Kendall Planes, Brayden Huber, Kody Huber (Brooklyn), Alex, Brandon, and Darrien; and his many great-grandchildren.
Philip had a deep love for long-haul trucking, a career that carried him across North America and became an important part of his life. He took pride in his work, embraced the miles and the places they led him, and gathered countless memories along the way.
Yet, for all the roads he travelled, Philip’s heart was always closest to home. His family meant everything to him, and some of his happiest memories were made with his grandchildren; fishing, cooking and baking, gathering together, and sharing the simple moments that become the most treasured. Through these times, he created bonds and memories that will continue to live in the hearts of his family.
Philip was a fighter, meeting life’s challenges with courage, determination, and an unwavering spirit. He was a steady presence for the people he loved, someone they could turn to for support, reassurance, and strength. To his family, he was truly their rock.
His legacy will endure in the stories told about him, the traditions carried forward, and the love he gave so generously to his family. Though his absence is deeply felt, the memories he created and the strength he shared will remain a lasting part of the lives he touched.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Juliette Townsend and Mike Penner for their kindness, support, and compassion during Philip’s declining health, helping to make him as comfortable as possible during his final days.
Rest peacefully, Dad. You fought a good fight. You were our strength and our rock, and you will forever be loved, remembered, and missed.
