Raymond Thomas Lacombe
September 7, 1942 - February 16, 2017
Blessed with the love of family and good friends, Ray Lacombe died on February 16, 2017 after a courageous battle with heart disease.
Ray will be remembered with love and his memory honoured by his beloved family: wife Adrienne, son Mark and daughter in law Christine, his precious grandchildren Meagan Lacombe Dufresne and Amy Lacombe (Jeff) and their mother Kim Innard. Ray also leaves to mourn his brother Wayne (Lana) Lacombe and sisters in law Lynne McKenzie and Signe Lacombe.
Ray will also be missed and remembered by his extended family and close friends who helped support us throughout Ray's final journey. We especially thank family members Anne, Ron and Wayne Baker; our close friends Ralph and Jane Jacobson; Allan and Maria Perron; George Metail (Pat Selway) and Andy Scribilo along with our other Beach Road neighbours.
Ray was born on September 7, 1942 to wonderful parents Paul and Florence (nee Pelletier) Lacombe. Ray was a middle child and always looked up to his big brother Melvyn (Mel) and "looked after" his younger brother Wayne. Ray grew up happily in Kenora and especially enjoyed fishing as well as playing hockey and baseball.
Ray was predeceased by his parents, brother Mel, his mother in law Rose and father in law Len (Kroppy) Kropioski.
Ray and Adrienne were married on February 27, 1965 and enjoyed over 51 years of happy marriage. In 1990, Ray had their dream house built on Lake of the Woods where he enjoyed lake life with family and friends. Ray and Adrienne were fortunate enough to be able to travel throughout the years with Hawaii being their favourite destination.
Ray was employed at the local paper mill for many years before retiring in 1999. Prior to the mill, he worked a number of years with his Father at their garage and service station in Falcon Lake, Manitoba and also for Gillis & Warren (auto parts) both in Kenora and Thunder Bay.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 am at St Louis Catholic Church in Keewatin with Father Don Adaza officiating. A luncheon will follow in the Parish Hall.
Our family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr John Vaudry and Dr Robert Kroeker (cardiologist - Winnipeg) for the excellent medical care provided for Ray over the years. We also thank the following agencies and staff for their kindness, caring and professional services: CCAC and Brian Campbell; Paramed services especially Connie Innard, Kristal Cadger, Barb Creed, Jessica Hill and Dudley Landon; Medigas Services; Shoppers Home Health Care staff; Patterson Medical Center staff; June Dearborn - INR Clinic; Doug and Lucy Devlin and the staff at Johnson's Pharmacy.
Ray always took such good care of his family and he will be incredibly missed. We are forever grateful for his love, his caring ways and the years that we spent together.
Rest in peace Papa Ray.
