Richard Kelly–Kinew of Ojibway’s of Onigaming First Nations to parents Marie and Paul Kelly. He grew up in Onigaming and attended school in Fort Frances, Ontario.
Richard is survived by sons Bradford, Jarrod and grandchildren, his eldest sister Loraine and eldest brother Buffalo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, great nieces and nephews.
Richard is predeceased by his parents Marie and Paul Kelly, sisters Agnes Lorna, Gloria; younger brother Billy, sister-in-law Liza Jane, a sister, and a brother in infancy.
He followed the cultural ways and he danced in pow wow and a Sundancer and Midewin. He was a healer and teacher in Bemidji, MN. Even though he had his struggles he was always happy to see his family and had stories to share.
A Wake Service will be held at Nestor Falls Community Hall on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, beginning at 3:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Nestor Falls Community Hall on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, beginning at 10:00 am with burial to follow in Onigaming First Nation.
