It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rita Jane Hintz (nee Bryan).
After a courageous battle with cancer and her husband by her side, she passed away at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital at the young age of 62, on Oct. 2, 2016.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Lorne Hintz. Her sons: Terry and James (Ginnie) Hintz. Grandchildren: Cloe and Drew Hintz. Brothers: Bruce (Judy) Bryan of Strathmore, AB.,Twin Brother Rod (Carol), Bryan of Thompson, MB. Mike Bryan of Winnipeg, MB., and sister Beverly (Tim) Stem of NaroI, MB., numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers/sisters in laws, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents George and Minerva Bryan (nee Saunders) and brother Kenneth Bryan of Kenora, On.
Rita was born in Kenora. Her greatest passions in life included her grandchildren and the Calvary Church. She enjoyed and loved all of her friends from the church over the years including one of her best friends Lorraine Whiting. Rita was a crossing guard for over 20 years and loved seeing the kids everyday (she called them her kids). She loved bingo, fishing, bowling, country gospel music, going to the local theatre, walks back and forth to town including stops at subway for morning coffee and spending time at the beach with her grandchildren. Christmas was a special day in her life, to have friends and family over for supper, gifts, music and occasional dancing. She loved to dance the two-step with her husband Lorne. She had a huge heart with too many friends to mention and would want all you to know that she loved each and everyone of you.
A Celebration of Rita's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Oct.8, 2016 at the Calvary Church with a burial to follow at Lake of the Woods Cemetery. In honour of Rita, all donations in lieu of flowers, can be made to the Terry Fox Foundation (whom which she named her youngest son after), this would be greatly appreciated by the family. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Beveridge and the nurses at Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
