With family by her side, Ruth passed peacefully on April 17, 2015.
Ruth is predeceased by her husband Bob, her sister Eileen Major and her granddaughter Diana Ronnebeck.
She is survived by her sister Shirley Canfield (Willard), her brother-in-law Bernie Major, sons Ron Ronnebeck (Heather), Rory (Will) Ronnebeck (Lynn), Randy Ronnebeck (Andrea), Robert Ronnebeck (Sandy), Regan Ronnebeck (Violet), grandchildren, Nicholas Melnyk (Janice Venier), Leigh Kaufmann (Ben), Kristoffer Ronnebeck, Kate Wilson (Adam), Sean Ronnebeck (Heather Ferrier), Cameron Ronnebeck (Nicole Caputo), Lacey Troilo, Elisa Ronnebeck, Alexander Ronnebeck, great grandchildren Ella Venier-Melnyk and Nash Wilson, nieces Debra Kero, Cheryl Lomax and Sandra Lanteigne and other extended family.
Ruth spent her younger years raising and doting on her five boys. Never one to let the grass grow under her feet, once her boys were grown, she decided it was time to have a career. At the age of 45, Ruth went to school to become a Registered Nursing Assistant. Ruth graduated top in her class and was class valedictorian. Following her graduation she was employed at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and the Northwestern Health Unit.
While Ruth’s greatest passion was her family, throughout her life she enjoyed time spent with her Investment Club, curling at both the Kenora and Keewatin Curling Club, playing Bridge, Quilting, spending time on Wolf Island and her boat “Ernie.”
After retirement, Ruth and Bob spent many years entertaining family and friends at their home on Lake of the Woods. “Friday Nights” were always party nights at the Ronnebeck home. Ruth went to join Bob, Eileen and Diana on Friday. Just in time for “Happy Hour”. She would be happy knowing that her “boys” and their families celebrated her life with a “Friday Night”
Special thanks to the staff of Pinecrest 3G and to her friends that she enjoyed doing many activities with.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Lake of the Woods Museum or Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Kenora Curling Club from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. The club room is wheelchair accessible from the lane behind the curling club.
