Sarah Borsfai, member of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, who was a resident of Keewatin, Ontario passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital with her family at her side.
She was predeceased by her parents John Redsky and Greta Smith, husband Stephan Borsfai, her daughter Cheryl Redsky and her great grandson Kanyon.
She is survived her daughter Denise (Ted) and their children Mackenzie (Sam) and Kamryn (Josh), son Steven, son Tom and his son Aayden, granddaughter Cassandra, grandchild Cheyney and great granddaughter Kaya, as well as great great grandchildren Samuel, Lilyn and Kylis. She was known as Kokum, great grandmother and great great grandmother aka Big kokum, she will also be missed by her cat Mittens.
She was a residential school survivor who went on to attend Westmount Nursing College in Thunder Bay, Ontario and graduated as an RNA at the young age of 19, she had a passion for the health care field. She loved her community and was always willing to lend a helping hand to both young and old. She also enjoyed her position in the courthouse as an interpreter. In her spare time she would head out to the bush blueberry picking and was known as the ‘Blueberry Queen’ by all who knew her.
The family would like to thank the 2nd Floor staff, Shawna Redskye (Tyler), Diane Sky, Gwen Redsky, Christine Green, Darlynn Lightning (Darren), Sharon Redsky, Diane Redsky, Doreen, Daren and Cheryl Moellenbeck.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 from 10:00am - 4:00pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.
