Sheryl Ida Robinson

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Jim Robinson, children Kevin Robinson and kids Nevaeh, Camden, Parker and Kaydee, Crystal (Gord) Frenette and kids Alexis and Shailynn, Amber Robinson, Michelle Robinson (John Boucha) and kids Johnny, Jenifer and Jamie, Ashley (Alex) Gordon-Robinson and kids Caiden and Saeryn, Raymond Cameron, Charlie Carpenter and Jax Davis.

Sheryl was predeceased by her mother Ida Ponton, her father Les Ponton, brother Wayne Ponton, mother-in-law Doris Robinson, father-in-law James Robinson, sister-in-law Shirley Ponton, sister-in-law Linda Ponton, brother-in-law Doug Pringle, nephew Steven Pringle and son Alex Muckle.

Sheryl was born Oct. 7, 1954 to Ida and Les in Kenora, ON. At the age of 18 she began her nursing career at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital. She was a pediatric nurse for 35 years working alongside some of her favorite co-workers. Sheryl was part of the Beta Sigma Phi organization for a number of years where she made many lifelong friendships. She enjoyed helping out with different events around the community, one of her favorites being the Christmas craft sales that she and her daughters would all help out with together.

In 1971 Sheryl met Jim at a friend’s engagement party. The couple proceeded to marry, have five children of their own, then dedicated over 30 years to fostering additional children. They had hundreds of kids in their care throughout the years. Some only stayed for a weekend while others became permanent members of their family, but they cared for each one like they were their very own. Sheryl loved spending time with her grandkids and always looked forward to the yearly family camping trip at Blue Lake.

The family would like to sincerely thank all the staff at Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care Home for the amazing care that Sheryl received over the past year.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital or the Tamarack House in Thunder Bay.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday March 15, 2025 at 11:00am at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, followed by a gathering with refreshments at the Perch Bay Resort from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available at https://fweb.tv/172447
