Atik (Elk) Clan
November 5, 1953 - June 25, 2026
Stanley Joseph Jack, better known as “Bobo,” began his greatest journey peacefully in June 25, 2026 at Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care in Kenora, Ontario, with family by his side. He was 72.
He was predeceased by parents William and Christina Jack, brother Robert Jack and sister Roberta Jack (Lennie).
He is survived by 4 children, Leslie Gott (Mario) of Gatineau, QC, Stanley Wenell-Jack Jr., Shayna Wenell-Jack and Kalin Wenell-Jack of Minnesota. Siblings; Thomas Jack (Marissa), Bradley Jack (Charlene), Marianne Big George, Kathy Jack (James) and Christine Jack. Many Nieces and Nephews; Stephanie Horton, Dustin and Lennie Gibbins, Carl and Brendan Big George etc… Family and friends who will miss his humour, his independence, his stories, and the unique way he moved through the world. Though our hearts are heavy, we take comfort in knowing that if anyone could find his way home, it would be Bobo.
Born and raised on Musk-Kosiminiziibing (Big Grassy River First Nation) on the beautiful shores of Lake of the Woods, Bobo grew up hunting, fishing, exploring, and learning that life was meant to be lived outdoors whenever possible. He carried that lesson with him for the rest of his life.
Bobo was a carpenter by trade, but an adventurer at heart. If he heard about a place worth seeing, chances were he was already halfway there. He travelled far and wide, often by whatever means happened to be available at the time. Planning was optional. Determination was undeniable.
An avid reader of all genres Bobo loved learning about the people and events that shaped the world. He could spend hours with a good book, although those who knew him best would agree he preferred making his own stories whenever possible.
He was blessed with a sharp wit and a mischievous sense of humour. Bobo enjoyed teasing people, telling stories, and finding laughter in everyday life. He had a talent for making people smile and reminding them not to take life too seriously.
Those who knew Bobo understood that he liked doing things his own way. He followed his own compass, trusted his own instincts, and rarely worried about whether the rest of the world was keeping up. He taught us that life is an adventure, that a good story is worth telling, and that laughter can get you through almost anything.
After a four-year battle with dementia, Bobo has finally laid down his tools, finished the last chapter of his book, and set off on one more adventure. We like to imagine him now sitting on a beautiful boat treading calm waters to fish, endless trails to explore, plenty of stories to share, and not a single timetable to follow.
“Travel well, Bobo. Save us a fishing spot and a good story.”
Finally, we wish to express our sincere gratitude to Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care home, Elder Tommy Councillor, Musk-Kosiminiziibing Chief and Council and Kenora Chief Advisory.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Gibbins, Lennie Gibbins Jr, Byron Horton, Brandon Tuesday, Steve Jack and Stanley Jack Jr. Honorary pallbearer Xander Oimet.
A wake and service will be held in Musk-koziminiziibing (Big Grassy River First Nation) Morson, Ontario on Monday, June 29, 2026 beginning at 2:00pm. Funeral service will be held in Musk-koziminiziibing (Big Grassy River First Nation) Morson, Ontario on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 with interment to follow.
