May 3, 1948 – May 29, 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Stuart Williams on May 28, 2026, shortly after his 78th birthday. Born in Leyland, Lancashire, UK, he was the beloved only child of Doris and Gerald Williams.
From an early age, Stuart had a deep sense of adventure. A gifted tradesman, his skills allowed him to work and travel extensively across Europe, Africa, the United Arab Emirates, North and South America, and the Caribbean. His journeys eventually brought him across all of Canada's provinces and territories before he arrived in Winnipeg in 1977.
Following their fortuitous meeting, he and Karen settled in Kenora in 1979. Despite having seen much of the world, Stuart found Kenora to be among the most beautiful places on earth. Here, they welcomed their son, Ian, in 1981, and daughter, Brittany, in 1985. In 1993, Stuart proudly built the Williams family home on Rabbit Lake, a place where they lived for over 30 years and created countless fond memories with family and friends.
A highly skilled plumber, Stuart founded Canadian Comfort Plumbing & Heating. Throughout Northwestern Ontario, he was the reliable tradesman who ensured that countless businesses, homes, and cottages had their heat on and water running. He retired at the age of 60, spending time in the southern US, the Caribbean, and Mexico.
Stuart was very committed to his community. He volunteered his time on various municipal committees in Kenora and Jaffray Melick over the years. Many of Ian and Brittany’s friends will remember his enthusiastic presence on the soccer field, where he spent 10 years coaching youth soccer alongside his good friend, Dan Shankowsky.
Above all, Stuart cherished his family. He loved being a grandfather to Jack and James (Ian), and Alexis and Amelia (Brittany). His grandchildren adored his playful side, and every visit was filled with smiles and laughter.
In 2021, Stuart suffered a major stroke, and Pinecrest became his new home. There, he received exceptional care and thoroughly enjoyed his weekly "pub time." He always looked forward to visits from his dear friends Dan and Dave; your steadfast friendship meant the world to him, and our family is forever grateful to you both.
The Williams family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Thomas and the entire staff at Pinecrest, particularly the Nursing and Activation teams. A special thank you to Jennifer Grant in the Activation Unit for the remarkable support and care she provided to Stuart over the years.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life for Stuart's family will be held at a later date.
