

Left to remember and cherish his memory are his daughter Linda Hunter (Airdrie, Alberta), granddaughter Dorothy (Peter) Woodman, great granddaughters Alexis and Brooke; daughter Marge (Kjell) Pedersen, granddaughter, Tanis (Loren) Giesbrecht, great grandchildren Emma, Maryse, Owen, Callie, granddaughter Candi (Ole) Hensrud, great grandchildren Claire and Lyndon, grandson Jon (Nicole) Pedersen, great grandchildren Julianna, Jari, and Nils; daughter Terri (Bruce) Francis, grandson Brooks Francis (Cari Mackey), great grandchildren Scott and Brooklynn Francis and Lucas and Dylan Mackey, grandson Tim (Michelle) Francis,and granddaughter Stacey; grandson Al (Laurie) Couture, great grandchildren Audrey (great great granddaughter Autumn), Terri Lynn and Justin, granddaughter Michelle Couture (Darrell Mosionier) and great grandson Cody and grandson Tony Couture.
Syd was born in Paddington, England but spent most of his life in Winnipeg, MB. He started working for the CPR at an early age and retired as a locomotive engineer in 1980-1981. For his last ten years of employment he ran the Via train between Winnipeg and Kenora.
Syd was predeceased by his first wife Gladys, his son Gordon, son-in-law Patrick Hunter and daughter Anne Couture. He was also predeceased by his second wife Helen in 2002.
A Celebration of Syd’s Life will be held on Friday, March 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeside Baptist Church (Transmitter Road) with a luncheon to follow. Cremation has taken place. Interment will be at 1:30 pm at Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
