August 6, 1955 – May 25, 2020
In her hometown of Kenora, Virginia Wilton passed away at Lake of the Woods District Hospital on the 25th of May at the age of 64.
Born to Ted and Jennie Martinson, Virginia lived and worked in Kenora her entire life. Virginia fell in love early, marrying David Wilton in October 1976 and together they raised their daughter Tina (Christina).
Virginia was a loyal and dedicated worker, spending 20 years as a server and cook at the Kenwood Hotel and then another 17 years as a server at Dino’s Restaurant. She took pride in her work, enjoyed her customers and made a family of her coworkers. She will be remembered for her ready laugh and quick wit.
She took joy in the quiet moments in life, often found “busy” with a good book, a cup of tea or puttering in the garden. Reconnecting with the church, Virginia was able to contribute on the vestry at St. Alban’s Anglican church for a time and as a volunteer at the church’s charitable shop, Twice Is Nice.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband David, and her parents, Ted and Jennie. She is survived by her daughter Christina and 3 grandsons, Aaden, Brennan and Connor.
Aunty Vinnie was well loved and cared for by her family in Kenora, including her sister Gerry (Doug), their children and grandchildren, Sheryl (Ian) with Grace, Gillian and William, Nicole (Mike) with Charlotte and Emily, and nephew Douglas. Her large family also includes her sister Gail, brothers, Robert (Evelyn) and Jim (Debbie), her husband’s siblings, Jo Ann (Bob) and Paul (Dianne), a stepdaughter Judy (Bernie), and many more nieces and nephews across the provinces.
At this time, there will be no service scheduled.
