It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Wayne Stewart Mandamin on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre.
Leaving to mourn are his partner Margaret Paul of 44 years, son Dwayne, daughter Roseline (Kyle) and Jamie Mandamin. His grandchildren Nakeisha Fisher, Shanelly Sophia Fisher, Danika, Kallyn, Kemmery, Sheldon Jr., Gloria, Jackson and Hailey. His mother-in-law Agnes Paul (James), brother-in-laws Melvin, Stanley, Daniel, sister-in-laws Roseline (predeceased), Elizabeth and Caroline.
He led a very happy life with his siblings and grandchildren Jolene, Dale, Joelynn, Anna, Sadie, Starla, Gage, Charlene, Tyler (Jessie Tyrese) and Rania. His sister Phyllis Mandamin (Alfred Oshie), and their children Christine (Travis, George and Travis), his brother Floyde (Charlene) and his children Farrah (predeceased), Evannah (predeceased).
Also leaving behind his sister Phyllis Mandamin (Alfred) their children Christina (Travis, George, Chelsey), brother Floyd Mandamin (Charlen), (Darlene) and his children April, James, Precious, Payton, Tyson, Evan, Bryce, Freedom and Wynter, sister Roberta Mandamin (Tim Cameron) and their children Joseph, Jeffrey, Randy (Ashley), Joseph (Stacey) and their children Jennifer, Jasmine and Connor, Jeffreys children Ashadeya, Donald, Stedman, Caio, Randy (Ashley) and Eric.
Aunty Kathy Prouty, uncle Ronnie Mandamin, Gladys (Philip), cousins Audrey, Clara, Joey, Sandra, Doris, Darren, Danny, Jordan, Colleen, Mark, Larry, Marvin, Teresa (Randy), Bonny, Lillian, Dorothy, Mary Jane, Flora, Phillip Jr., Beverly, Allison, Ronnie Jr., Isaiah and his friends Joan Weir and Jay.
Wayne was predeceased by his parents Robert Quewezance, his mother Doris Mandamin, his grandparents Joe and Matilda Mandamin, his sons Sheldon and Nathan, his granddaughter Cora, his brother Freddy and an infant son, his sister Rebecca, his nephews Chris and Eric Mandamin, nieces Farrah Oshie, Evanah and Cora, grandson Kaydan, uncles Joe Mandamin, cousin Percy Prouty and Johnny Quewezance, aunts Josey and Christine Mandamin and cousin Helen Selicia.
His favorite activities included Casino, fishing, hunting, outdoor work, driving around and attending cultural activities. He was humble and strong in his beliefs. He was a great father, brother and cousin. He will be missed by a lot of other relatives, cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Ottawa and Thunder Bay Regional Health Science Centre and their staff for the care in looking after him, as well as Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre for their services.
A wake service for Wayne will be held Sunday, March 2, 2025 at 5:00 PM at WCWA Building, Whitedog, Ontario. A funeral service led by a traditional Elder on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 10:00 AM at WCWA Building with burial to follow in Whitedog First Nation.
