Dr. Charles G. Allen, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at the age of 78. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 30th, at the Cantrell Funeral Home with Pastor Lorri Kentner officiating, burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends may also visit www.cantrellfh.com to view his Tribute Wall and share stories and condolences with the family. Memorials may be given to the family for a designation of their choice. The services for Charles have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Charles G. “Chuck” Allen was born in Norfolk, Nebraska, on November 7, 1947, to loving parents S. Gilbert and Betty (Meyer) Allen. Chuck spent a short time with his parents in Omaha and North Platte, Nebraska, before the family moved to Kimball in 1949. He graduated from Kimball High School in 1966, where he played football as a dedicated defensive player and found joy in golf and science with his teacher, Don Meyer.
After high school, Chuck attended 1 year of college at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Because of the draft, he took a break from college to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1971. Chuck met and was married to Claire Long in Newman Grove, Nebraska on August 6, 1972. While in Vietnam he became interested in psychology and returned to UNL where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, with Minors in Cultural Anthropology and Religious Philosophy. During graduate school in California, he earned his Master of Arts Degree in Counseling Psychology from Chapman College. Later he returned to Denver where he earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver. He was educated in religion, taking a wide range of religious classes throughout his college years.
Chuck dedicated his life to his family and his career. He worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs, helping hundreds of veterans reacclimate from their war trauma, retiring from this position in 2006. Chuck then continued his passion through his private practice. Chuck also touched many lives through his podcast. He offered virtual counseling to many through Doctor on Demand. He joined an organization called Fire Psychology where he provided therapy to Firefighters and Paramedics. He lived by the golden rule, always asking his family to seek answers from all angles, and he was a teacher in every sense of the word.
He is survived by his wife, Claire Allen, his children, Matthew and James Allen, his sister Barbara (Bob) Brady, along with a host of other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Chuck had a witty sense of humor and loved making people laugh.
