Leon Floyd Voice, age 51, of Traverse City, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019 at Munson Medical Center in the loving care of his family. Leon was born in Traverse City, Michigan, on Jan. 4, 1968 to biological parents James and Janice (Watterson) Dalton, in care of adoptive parents Floyd and Lucy (Taylor) Voice.
Leon grew up in Kingsley, Michigan, later in Karlin, Michigan where he joined the military in 1985 in Traverse City, Michigan, where he was a part of the 182nd Transportation Company. Leon was honorably discharged from the Army in 1993.
Leon was a hard working man with a work history of 37 years with no lapse in employment. He worked at three companies within those 37 years, Apple Fence Co., Leonardo's Tree Service, and A-1 Professional Tree Service. Leon, being a very mechanically inclined individual, had an in depth understanding of how machines and engines operated, and was capable of repairing anything that needed fixed. He was a Tree Climber, with outstanding skill. An avid Hunter and Fisherman with an affection for Coors Light. He was a patient and understanding man, capable of teaching anyone that cared to learn and pay attention. A man that payed attention to detail in every situation. Leon had a great sense of humor and had a joke for every situation; it was hard to be upset when he was in the room.
Leon is survived by his fiance Monica Maleski; children, Nathan Voice, Scott Nichols, Mindy (Kyle) Reinbold, Henry (Alisha) Husted, and Barbara Husted; grandchildren, Kali, Cassidy, Henry, Hazel, and Hannah Husted, Autumn Burnam, Karmyn, Jarvis, and Alizae Reinbold, and Tyler Banks; siblings, Deborah, Mary, David, and Timothy Dalton, and Regina (Bert) Griffus; his father James Dalton Sr.; along with many nieces and nephews.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy, Floyd, and Janice; brothers, James Jr. and John Sr. Dalton.
A visitation for family and friends will take place from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday Sept. 7, 2019 at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A celebration of life will be the following Saturday Sept. 14, 2019. Information will be available at visitation.
