Nancy Jean Heiler

Nancy J. Heiler, age 68, of Kingsley passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born September 27, 1947 in Lansing to Melvin and Jeanette (Kelly) Pratt. Nancy graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing in 1965. On November 13, 1971, Nancy married the love of her life Joe Heiler. Together they raised two sons. She attended NMC where she earned her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and she worked for the Osteopathic Hospital and then home health care. Nancy went back to school and received her associate’s degree in Landscape Design. Along with her husband and son, she owned and operated Heiler Landscaping. After several years in the landscaping business, she again went back to school and received her certification as a Pharmacy technician, and she worked for Kingsley Pharmacy. In her spare time, Nancy enjoyed gardening, travel, hiking, reading, wine and fine chocolate. She volunteered her time at the Rock working with the Senior Center. She loved watching football especially watching her sons through the years. Nancy also enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. Nancy will be greatly missed by her husband of 44 years; Joe Heiler; two sons: Joseph Michael (Melissa) Heiler of Kingsley and Christopher James Heiler of Austin TX; 4 grandchildren: Brayden, Alayna, Ava, and Charlie; a daughter-in-law Amy Heiler; a brother: Greg (Beth) Pratt, a sister: MaryJo (John) Walker, and her beloved Golden Retriever: Tripper. Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by brothers: Rick and Roger Pratt and beloved Golden Retriever: Spanky. A visitation will be held Monday, January 18, 2016 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm with a rosary at 7pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 11 am at St. Mary’s of Hannah Catholic Church in Kingsley. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Nancy’s name may be directed to The Rock of Kingsley.
