Wayne James Elton

Wayne James Elton, 57, of Kingsley passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born January 25, 1954 in Clare to James C. Elton and Marguerette (Walker) Hilliard. Wayne graduated from Harrison high in 1973 and attended CMU where he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science. On July 22, 1988 Wayne married Carole Morgan in Traverse City.

He was a member of the Paradise Eagles and he was a son of the Legion member of the American Legion in Fife Lake. Wayne was a huge sports fan, especially to the University of Michigan and Jeff Gordon and a loyal Detroit Lions fan. He also enjoyed golf and horseshoes.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Carole of Kingsley and 3 children: Linley (John) Boyer of Grand Haven, Jay Elton of Grand Rapids, and Brooke Elton of Kingsley; siblings Margaret of Clare, Cindy of Harrison, and Katrina of Palm Bay, FL; many nieces and nephews.

Wayne was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and uncles.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A funeral will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. also at the funeral home.
