Yvonne Lucille Johnson

Yvonne L. Johnson, 91 of Kingsley passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Munson Medical Center. Yvonne was born on February 12, 1927 in Kingsley , MI to John and Maude (Morgan) Dobson. She attended Kingsley schools, and graduated in 1945.

On March 23, 1945 she married Tyrus Johnson and they spent 48 years together. They owned and operated the Johnson Tree Farm in Fife Lake. He preceded her in death on August 30, 1993.

Yvonne was very active within her community and her church. She was a member of the Kingsley Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, assisted with VBS, many other youth functions, and also helped prepare meals to shut-ins in the community. She enjoyed gardening, going to garage sales, and sewing in which she made items such as tote bags, quilts, and baby blankets, not only for her family, but for others as well. She also loved birds, especially chickadees, and spending time with some of her best friends; Eileen, Jean, and Melanie.

She is survived by her daughter Anne (Rich) Vogue, Daughter in Law Gayle Johnson, grandchildren; Lisa (Bryan) King, Greg (Kelly) Vogue, Jim and Gary Johnson Jr. Also surviving are 6 great grandchildren Allie (Jordan), Emma, Lauren, Luke, Bryanna and Jasmine, Brother John (Ellen) Dobson, Sister Olive Padgett, many nieces and nephews and a soon to be added great-great-grandaughter. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Gary, and sisters Evelyn Kouchner-Kavich and Maxine McQueen.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 from the Kingsley Baptist Church 7511 Blackman Rd. at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley on Sunday from 4-7:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kingsley Baptist Church or to the Kingsley youth center, The Rock. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Covell Funeral Home.
