Carrie H. Woodard

Carrie H. Woodard, 90, passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014, in the Indian Path Medical Center. Mrs. Woodard was born on July 5, 1924 in Sullivan County, Tennessee, a daughter of the late James William Horne and Nellie Bula Bullion Horne. She was a lifelong resident of Blountville, and worked as a food service manager for the Sullivan County School System until her retirement in 2000. Mrs. Woodard was actively involved at Fall Creek Baptist Church where she took on many roles serving others and will be best remembered for her energetic passion towards others. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mrs. Woodard was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Richard Woodard; four brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include her children, Jack Woodard and wife Dianna, of Blountville, TN; Patsy Gilbert and husband Don, of Kingsport, TN; and Bennett Woodard and wife Joyce, of Kingsport, TN; seven grandsons, Benjy Thompson, Keith Woodard, Stephen Woodard, Erick Woodard, John Mark Woodard, Matthew Woodard and Josh Woodard; six great grandchildren, including the first great granddaughter Carrie Katherine Thompson who will carry on Mrs. Woodard’s name sake; two brothers, John Horne, Gray, TN and Roy Lee Horne and wife Joyce, of Fayetteville, AK; two sisters, Nancy Black, of Kingsport, TN and Mary Garrett, of Gray, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, November 24, 2014 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Mrs. Carrie H. Woodard will be held Monday, November 24, 2014 at 7:00pm in the East Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Tommy Haynes officiating and Eulogy by son, Bennett Woodard. Graveside Service will take place Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 3:00pm in the Garden of Prayer at East Lawn Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Woodard’s grandsons.
