
Rev. Charles E. Adams, 86, of Kingsport, TN died Thursday, October 30, 2014 in Helena House, Port Royal, SC. He was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Logan, WV. He was a son of the late Raymond B. Adams and Sarah “Sally” Perry Adams.
Surviving are one daughter, Ann-Marie Adams, Port Royal, SC and a sister Anne A. Messner, Washington, DC. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy and daughter, Holly.
Rev. Adams was a graduate of Marshall College (AA), West Virginia University (BS, MS) and a Master of Divinity, Virginia Theological Seminary. He was a veteran of the Korean War, awarded the Commendation Medal and a Commissioned Army Social Worker. He retired from the U.S. Veterans Administration in 1999 and was an ordained minister with the Episcopal Church.
Graveside service for Rev. Charles E. Adams will be held Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11:00am in the Christus Garden of East Lawn Memorial Park with Father Richard Shackleford of St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations make their way to the following: St Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 2152 Hawthorne St, Kingsport, TN; “Free Fishing Days” in your local community during National Fishing & Boating Week (June every year in the USA); or your local humane society.
