

KINGSPORT — Charles Strickler, 66, Kingsport, died Monday morning after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a devoted husband, father, and brother who was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
Born in Sullivan County, he was a life-long resident of Kingsport. He retired from Kingsport Press after 42 years of service. He was a devoted member of Pactolus United Methodist Church where he served as chair of the board of trustees.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Shelia Strickler, his parents, Jim and Sara Kate Strickler; brothers JW and Jasper; and a sister, Beatrice Elmore.
Surviving are his son, Jeff Strickler and wife, Tish, of Cary, NC, and daughter, Tiffany Alison and husband Steven of Kingsport. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Alex and Abby Strickler, and Riley and Annie Alison. He is also survived by three brothers (Forrest, Alvin, and Clarence) and three sisters (Betty Davenport, Berniece Holt, Charlsie Poore). He was the loving owner of his pet Maltese, Sophie.
Funeral services will be conducted at East Lawn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 19th from 5 pm to 7 pm at East Lawn followed by a celebration of life at 7 pm. Graveside services will be conducted by TJ Burdine at East Lawn on Friday, April 20th at 1 pm.
