Clara Mae Jones Fields, age 94 of Blountville, entered into Heaven’s glory during the morning hours of Thursday, May 26, 2016. Clara was a devout Christian and she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Clara was born to the late William David Jones and the late Martha Ettie Baskett Jones on February 4, 1922 in Hawkins County, TN. On January 24, 1942 Clara married her most cherished friend, Mr. Clifford Lee “Tip” Fields and after 5 ½ years of a loving marriage, he preceded her in death on June 20, 1947. Even though their time together was short, they made memories that lasted a lifetime.
Clara was a loving, strong-willed individual and she loved taking care of her family. She loved gardening, sewing, cooking, and spending time with her family. She enjoyed quilting; and not only did she sew strands of thread to make beautiful quilts, more importantly she sewed strands of love that continue to this day in her family’s lives.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband “Tip”; her daughter, Carolyn Joyce Fields; two brothers, Dencil C. Jones and Hancil B. Jones; and son-in-law, A. Craig Campbell. She is survived by one daughter, Janis Campbell, two grandchildren, Adam Campbell, and Jennifer Campbell Watson and husband Ander; two great-grandchildren, William Chase Watson, and Grayson Campbell Watson; and several loving nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home. Mrs. Fields’ Funeral service will be at 7:00 pm immediately following the visitation in the Chapel of East Lawn Funeral Home, and will be officiated by Pastor Stacy Whitt. Interment will be on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 10:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Park in the Garden of Love. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Adam Campbell, Clara’s nephews, and Ander Watson.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, located at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105-3678.
