Elizabeth “Libby” Combs Mount, age 83 of Kingsport, passed from this earthly life into an eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Libby was born to the late William A. Combs and the late Annie Guinn Combs on September 19, 1932 in Bluff City, TN. Libby married the love of her life, Mr. Duane Howard Mount, and after 58 years of a beautiful life together, he preceded her in death on August 8, 2012.
Libby was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother, sister, and child of God. She was an active member of Arcadia Presbyterian Church until the time of her passing. She worked for several years in retail sales and was manager of the Credit Department at Kress Department Store in Bristol and Kingsport. Later she obtained an Associate of Science degree in Early Childhood Development from Union College in Jackson, Tennessee, and taught kindergarten in Sullivan County, both in a public and private setting, for 12 years. She loved reading and passed that love on to her children and grandchildren. Her favorite gifts to give for any occasion were books. She served 2 terms on the Sullivan County Library Board as the Bloomingdale representative.
Libby is preceded in death by her parents; and her loving husband, Duane. She is survived by her sons, Christopher of Kingsport and Stephen (Pamela) of Florence, SC; Grandchildren Sarah and Tucker; Sisters Maria Still of Kingsport and Betsy (Daniel) Hardin also of Kingsport; Special Sister-in-Law Nancy Combs of Bristol, TN; Several Nieces and Nephews; and, Special Friend Jo Ann Newland.
The family wishes to thank: Dr. Malcolm Matthews and the loving nurses and staff of Indian Path Regional Cancer Center who cared for and served Libby for many years; the doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at Indian Path Medical Center who cared for her with compassion and respect; and, the staff, nurses, and therapists who served her at NHC Rehabilitation Center of Kingsport, especially her CNA’s Mike and Charleen.
A private interment will be on Monday, May 30, 2016 at East Lawn Memorial Park, Kingsport, Tennessee. A “Celebration of Life Service” will be held on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 6PM at Arcadia Presbyterian Church with Pastor Rodney Barton and Reverend Larry Stallard officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Grady Bell, David Combs, Bill Farmer, Jason Farmer, Larry Kinsler, and Hoyt Woodward. Honorary Pall Bearers will be Jim Burchfield, Perry Carter, Robert Cornett, Steve Johnson, Charles Newland, and Ken Strickland.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to one of the following ministries: Arcadia Presbyterian Church, 4616 Bloomingdale Road, Kingsport, TN 37660, and Bancroft Gospel Ministry, 141 Bancroft Pvt. Dr., Kingsport, TN 37660.
