

She was born July 19, 1933, to the late Clarence and Irene Sampson Church. Eva had a special affinity for music and a talent that was God-given. She played the bass guitar for more than thirty years. She played in her and her late husband’s band, Jim Bishop and the Cimarrons and also had a love of performing Gospel music Eva loved her family, was a stranger to none, and a friend to all. Above all, she loved Jesus. She was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Bishop; two brothers, Gary Church and Don Church; and her one sister, Eleen Steadman. Left to cherish her memory include her son, Dennis Fields and wife Lorra; daughter, Christie Myers and husband John; stepson, James Matthew Bishop; two stepdaughters, Deborah Vaughan and husband Michael and Theresa Crawford and husband Ronnie; two grandchildren, Jessica Dagenhart and Erica Voland; seven step grandchildren, Tylie Eaves, Vicki Stacy, Mandy Floyd, Tony Crawford, Brodie Bishop, Logan Bishop, and Rebecca Castle; two great grandchildren; and fifteen step great- grandchildren. Eva is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 15, 2025, from 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M. at East Lawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Danny Dolen officiating. Interment will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park where friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
