

Gladys Goodman Moody, age 83, of Kingsport, went home to be with the Lord peacefully at 3:10 p.m. Saturday (August 21, 2010) at Indian Path Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born on August 28, 1926 in Bristol, VA, she was a daughter of the late William Lee and Sarah Katherine Isley Goodman, she has resided in this area her entire life.
Mrs. Moody retired from the Tennessee Department of Employment following 30+ years of service.
She was a member of Emory United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Moody was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Gladys will be remembered as a loving and devoted mom, mamaw moo, sister and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Cecil C. Moody, 2001, one granddaughter, Leslie Nichole Moody and by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Moody and wife Sarah of Kingsport and Craig Moody of Kingsport; three grandchildren, Craig Moody, Raven Moody and Katie Cross; one step granddaughter, Miranda Dougherty; two great-grandchildren, Christian and Madison Cross Tate; two sisters, Hazel Moretz of Bristol, VA and Dorothy Weaver of Kingsport; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday (August 24, 2010) at East Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow graveside services at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (August 25, 2010) in East Lawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Phil Goins will officiate. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the graveside by 10:45 a.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to Jericho Shriners Temple, 1100 Sam Walton Drive, Kingsport, TN 37663.
