

Mary was born on May 25, 1947 in Pineville Kentucky, the oldest girl of eight children.
Mary spent her life raising her four children and caring for others. As a lifelong caregiver of the aged and ill, she blessed many people with her compassion and gift of being able to spend their days with dignity and grace.
Mary was a great lover of the simple things in life. She loved doing jigsaw puzzles and find a word puzzles. She was a formidable card player at the game of rummy and was still winning games even in her last days.
Her favorite time of the year was Christmas where she would cook large meals and invite anyone to come to join the family in the celebrations. Her fondness of Christmas décor blessed her neighborhood with brilliant yard displays each year.
Mary was able to do what she had blessed so many others with as her last years were spent exactly how she wished, enjoying life her way on her own terms. She treasured the independence of living in her own home which she shared with her treasured chihuahua, Princess.
Everyone who met Mary couldn’t help but comment on her bright and contagious smile. She was a very strong and stubborn woman who would did not sugar coat anything. That was the best part about her, you always knew where you stood with her and never doubted her love when she showed it.
Mary’s sense of humor and wit continued to last until her last moments, bringing smiles and comfort to everyone around her.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Fleenor her parents Robert and Lila Hill, her sisters Louise Hill and Barbara Carter, her brothers Stanely Hill, Clifford Hill and Junior Hill and her niece Paula Stines.
She is survived by her children: Diane Owens and husband Michael, Mark Fleenor, Marcy Becker and Audrey Spangler and her husband Robert. Her grandchildren, Jonathan Owens and wife Carmen, Ashleigh Cross and husband Ian, Dylan Fleenor, Tyrus Becker, Alex Spangler and Bailey Becker. Her great grandchildren, Mackenzie Owens, Belle Owens and Claire Cross. Sister Dola Mueller and brother Fred Moore.
Mary was also blessed with nieces that were very close to her heart, Lee Ann Hill and Rosemary Hendricks as well as many other precious nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Mary will be held Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 12:00 PM at East Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, Tennessee 37664. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM. A burial will occur Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 3:00 PM.
