Michael Wayne Lane

Michael Wayne “Wally” Lane, age 54, of Blountville, TN went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly Wednesday (April 28, 2010) at his residence.

Born in Kingsport, TN on March 22, 1956, a son of the late Paul and Lora Mildred Smith Lane, he has resided in this area all of his life.

Mike has been employed at Charter Communications for 35 years. He was a System Tech Lead and was of the Baptist faith.

He will be remembered as a loving husband, dad, papaw, brother and friend who was a “family man” with a love for the outdoors.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his first wife, Joann Christie Lane in 1999, and by his step-father, Elijah Lane.

Survivors include his wife of 10 years, Teresa Phelps Lane; his children, Nathan Lane, Tina Ward and husband Gary, Angie Lane and Chris Ford, Susie Mason and husband Ed all of Kingsport; grandchildren, Tyler Ward, Seth Kennedy, Allysha Baker, Julie Mason and Isaac Mason; his siblings, Ronnie Lane and wife Jennell, Randy Lane and wife Pat, Patsy Stout and husband Harold and Temmie Lane and wife Rhonda all of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday (May 1, 2010) at East Lawn Funeral Home and at other hours at the residence. Services will follow at 8:00 p.m. Saturday in the chapel with the Evangelist Wrightly Salling officiating. Special music will be provided by the Oak Glen Singers and the Lee Smith Singers. Entombment will follow committal services at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (May 2, 2010) in East Lawn Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be members of his Charter Family. Those attending the committal services are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m. Sunday and then proceed to the mausoleum.
