

Mildred "Tottie" Cox, age 81, died January 7, 2013 at her residence after a short illness. She was a native of Chester, South Carolina and a longtime resident of Kingsport. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Nica Elliott McKay; sister, Juanita Hammonds; her husband of 62 years, Bill Cox; her son, Dr. Robert John Cox. She was a retired pre-school teacher and was an active member of Colonial Heights Baptist Church. Mildred was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star-Liberty Chapter 198. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Moore and husband Mark of Kingsport, Sandy Cox Peele and husband, Dr. Terry E. Peele of Burlington, N.C.; four grandchildren, Tyler Moore of Kingsport, Beth Peele Crotty of Atlanta, T.J. Peele of Winston-Salem, N.C., Lauren Peele of San Francisco, CA; three great-grandchildren, Burns Crotty, Smith Crotty and Cameron Peele; one sister, Ruby Bradley of Marion, N.C. The family will receive friends Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow in the funeral home chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Colonial Heights Baptist Church Mission Fund or Shriner's Children's Hospital.
