Nora Pauline Riner Crowley, 82, went Home to Heaven on Sunday morning (March 11, 2018) after a lengthy illness. She was the daughter of the late Rev. Paul W. Riner & Virginia Sparks Riner of Kingsport. Besides her parents, Nora was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph N. Crowley in 1989; five brothers, William (Billy) Riner, Kenny W. Riner, Daniel (Dan) Paul Riner, Joseph (Joe) Riner, and Officer Stephen (Steve) D. Riner; and sister, Clara L. McFarland.
Pauline is survived by two sons, Ronald D. (Ronnie) Sluss of Schereville, Indiana and Jerry Lynn Sluss & wife Ildaura of Fayetteville, NC; three grandsons, Dean, Jason, and Brian of Wilmington, NC; granddaughter, Tanishia Cohen & husband Steve of Fayetteville, NC; brother, John H. Riner & wife Shirley of Kingsport; sister, Glenna Allen & husband Kenneth of Gray, TN; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Pauline was born in Kingsport and grew up there and later moved to Michigan for a number of years. She worked at New York Central Co. while in Michigan, but moved back to TN in 1988 and worked at Sears in Johnson City. She was a faithful member of Riner’s Tabernacle Baptist Church in Kingsport, which her father founded in 1964, where he served as a Pastor until God called him home.
She truly loved the Lord, her family, her church, and friends & neighbors. She was a lovely person who often witnessed for Jesus; she will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday (March 14, 2018) from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. at Riner’s Tabernacle Baptist Church (213 Pond Springs Road, Kingsport, TN 37664). Funeral services follow at 2:00 p.m. with her nephew, Pastor Ray Allen officiating and John Allen assisting. Music and songs will be provided by members of the church choir.
Nora will be entombed beside her beloved husband on Wednesday (March 14, 2018) at 3:00 p.m. in Mausoleum II at East Lawn Memorial Park. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family deeply appreciates the love and care Pauline received from the doctors and nurses at Indian Path Medical Center, Holston Medical Group, and the staff of Greystone Healthcare.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Riner’s Tabernacle Baptist Church Missionary Fund (213 Pond Springs Road, Kingsport, TN 37664).
