William Fred Roberts

William Fred Roberts age 91 went to be with the Lord on March 21, 2011. He was born on March 18, 1920 in Blackwater , VA. He is the son of the late Mary Collier and William Roberts.He was a loving husband, father and Grandfather. He also loved his Lord and was a friend to all who knew him. He was a US Army Veteran serving in WWII. Mr. Roberts was employed by Consolidated Freight Lines from 1949 until 1977.He was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church for 48 years.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Bobby Gene Roberts, Mother; Mary Collier Roberts, Father; William Roberts, Sisters; Addie Hatmaker, Essie Livesay, Evelyn Smith, and Annamae Blair, and Brothers Roy and Lloyd Roberts.

Survivors include his sweetheart wife of 70 years, Maysie Giles Roberts, three daughters, Phyllis (Jay) Miller, Joyce ( Larry) Kerns, Brenda (Bill) Philyaw; Grandchildren Kristi (Greg) Rhoten, Julie(Sean) Newland, Lori(Bill) Bryant, Amy(Tony)French, Angela (Chad) McPheron, Susan (Billy) Smith and Phillip (Janine) Philyaw and eleven great grandchildren. Sisters Ova White, Betty Jessee, Wilma Therell, Brothers, Jake Roberts, Mack H. Roberts, and Ken Roberts and several nieces and nephews and his family at Madison House; The family would like to extend a thank you to all the staff of Wexford House for their loving care.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM. – 7:00 PM. Tuesday March 22, 2011 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 PM. in the funeral home chapel with Timothy Wooten, officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday at East Lawn Memorial Park accorded by The American Legion Color Guard Post #3 and Post # 265.
